Health Issues
The population in
areas where there is no proper waste disposal method, there the waste is thrown
on roads or near water bodies. Harmful microorganisms that can infect hospital
patients, health workers and the public causing diseases. Organic domestic
waste poses a major threat since they give rise to favorable conditions to the
survival and growth of microbial pathogens. Direct handling of these solid
waste can result in various types of infectious and chronic diseases the waste
workers and the rag pickers being the most vulnerable.
Impact On Wildlife and
Aquatic Life
Garbage dumps, which
are full of harmful products and chemicals, are posing a serious threat to
animal and plant life. The main cause of health complications and disruptive
reproductive patterns in animal is due to accidental ingest of plastic.
Plastics pollution has a direct deadly effect on wildlife. Many sea turtles,
seabirds, seals, and other marine mammals are killed each year after ingesting
plastic or getting entangled in it. Marine pollution occurs when harmful chemicals,
plastic or toxic materials from industries or household are released into
oceans , or potentially harmful effects, can result from the entry into the
ocean of chemical, particles, industrial and residential waste
Garbage VS Waste
Garbage is useless or disposable waste
material which is thrown away or are of no use its also called trash, rubbish,
or junk. Garbage is the waste we produce daily in our homes, including unwanted
food, chemical substances, paper, broken furniture, used containers, plastic
bottles, and other unwanted stuff. Main sources of garbage are our homes,
hospitals, and industries.
Waste is any substance
which is not in use, worthless, defective, or which is discarded after use. We
usually use the term waste to refer garbage, trash, or any disposal able
material.
